YOUR STORY
In honor of Jaiden Lyndi

Once upon a time…
The shimmering ease of Quiet Bliss was shattered.
No permission granted,
Not karma driven;
Just random
Unpredictable
Unthinkable
LOSS.

Ice cold Novocain assaulting warm veins
Numbing every sense;
Piercing each second of every day.
Exploding Inside.
Stumbling,
Breathless;
In silent shock outside.
A buffer;
Separating US
From THEM.

They stood in our doorway,
Unwelcomed guests,
Sharing their stories of loss.
My mind silently screaming
Go Away!
I AM NOT YOU.
Denial zipped tightly,
Cocooning me inside.
SAFE.
With my memories.

Early days passed.
Reality morphed into something else altogether;
An unintended chapter
Meant for another…
But with pinpoint accuracy
Crashing into us.
A thief in the darkness,
Stealing
Our innocence,
Our future;
Our dreams.
We clutch with fierce passion
Gripping tightly
To all that WAS.

Time churns forward.
The pendulum slowly shifting…

It happens one day.
We look in the mirror
And see,
We have become
ONE OF THEM.
A member
Of the club
No one ever wants to join.

The searing pain of early days
Quiets.
The constant agony of MISSING
Dims.
The sheer horror of reality
Continues
In muted tones
Like a long forgotten love song
From an unfinished story.

A melancholy of emotion
Brims to the top of our cup.
Half full
With bittersweet
Memories;
And unrealized Moments,
We can only imagine to fruition.

YET
Encapsulated within us
We carry their love,
Like a treasure
In our pocket.
Always close
Always constant
Always burning.

Their light does not fade.
It grows
Stronger
And more Radiant.

And then,
One day
We stand in their doorway.
A home full of strangers,
Offering solace
and compassion.
In a way they cannot comprehend
YET.

So tightly knit
This circle of life,
And friends;
And fellow survivors.

We share that fragile bond of knowledge,
Acceptance;
Endurance.
Unending Love.

YOU lived.
We held your hand
Your heart
Your hopes
Your dreams.

YOU lived.
The only proof we need
Is the love we carry within us.

This day is for you.
To celebrate your LIFE
Your impact
Your journey
Your story.
We keep sharing it,
Over and over.
Because our promise remains the same;
We will always remember
To never forget.
